Ford has introduced a new key fob to prevent car theft. All new Ford models from 2021 will come with this improved key fob.
How does it work?
When the key fob is not in use for more than 40 seconds, it will become disabled prevent relay attacks. This is where thieves use a computer device to boost the signal from keys inside a property to steal a car.
The only way the key fob will come back into full functionality is by moving it/picking it up and will only operate within a 2 meter radius of the cars they are bonded to.
All new Focus models will be built with the new fob from May 2019, whereas the Fiesta and Fiesta Van are already being delivered with them.
